So you want to remove the webmail icon but keep the webmail feature active, correct?

The path you mention is in /usr/local/cpanel/base/ on your server.

If you replace that image, I recommend creating a /scripts/preupcp script to backup that image and /scripts/postupcp to restore that image, so you wont need to worry about a cPanel update overwriting your custom image. You can read more about these script hooks at:
