Hi,

I have also noticed this and wish to remove it.
Simple bug or a glitch?
we should have a way to remove the icon, for example when mod_deflate hasn't been compiled in apache.
It may have been an oversight. In any case I have created an official feature request for this, which you can vote on at:

I'm looking for that option and can't find it. I have mod deflate on and want to set it up but don't see where.
I created a new custom feature manager set and lo and behold, I could NOT remove OPTIMIZE WEBSITE This would NOT be needed when I sell MX Hosting. I consider this a BUG rather than a request. Can you get this fixed in the stable release branch ASAP?![]()
This is still on cPanel's radar I think as this topic was brought up a couple years ago and a feature request was created in the old bug tracker:
http://forums.cpanel.net/f5/removing...ite-74020.html
I'm curious about why the title of your thread being unrelated to the request though?
Not sure why I didn't ponder a better title. I did not notice that the optimize website feature was not configurable until a client of ours requested we handle all their MX hosting needs. It is quite embarrassing to have it show up in X3. We thought of using xmail theme, but, all the features related to email and email security are not present in xmail theme.
Of course it would be better to use xmail theme, but until you add the authentication links to domain keys, SPF records, aliases, forwards, et al to that theme, we have to stick to X3, for now.
Moderator Note: The thread title is now revised.
Old: WHM - Feature Manager - Xmail Features
New: WHM - Feature Manager - Add/Remove Optimize Website
I believe your conclusion is reasonable that an Optimize Website entry is needed in the WHM Feature Manager. For reference and tracking purposes this issue was assigned internal case ID #3547. I can confirm it is an active case but I do not have any information available regarding an ETA.
Thank you for the extra details. To resolve the issue I recommend using x3mail instead xmail. Using x3mail will properly hide the Optimize Website feature in cPanel; additionally, using x3mail allows for full use of the e-mail features specified via cPanel: Main >> Mail >> E-mail Authentication.
Please note that the themes x, x2, and xmail, are deprecated and no longer updated nor is their use advised; it is recommended to migrate users from x and x2 to x3 and from xmail to x3mail. Migrations (from x, x2, xmail) to x3 and x3mail may be accomplished using WHM via the following menu path: WHM: Main >> Themes >> X Skin Migration Wizard

There is a feature in cpanel to "Optimize Website" but the problem with this is that this feature is not in the "Feature List" in WHM to be able to disable it.
How about an addition to the feature list for this (and any other features in cpanel that may have been forgotten to be added in the feature list).

Two recent posts are now merged into the existing thread that involves the same topic of discussion, a feature request for adding an entry for "Optimize Website" into the Feature Manager in WHM.

More like a bug than a feature request. Not all servers use mod_deflate and all other "Features" can be enabled/disabled via Feature Manager. How difficult is it to add a checkbox to Feature Manager to allow disabling this feature? Please fix this. And everybody who wishes to be able to remove "Optimize Website" icon, please vote for this bug.

I have merged an old thread about having the ability to remove the "Optimize Website" icon with a newer thread on the same topic. This thread will be updated as progress is made towards implementing this functionality.
Hello,
I have just installed mod_deflate on my cpanel server and enabled it for all the accounts on the server. I would like to remove the Optimize website icon from the cpanel's interface of certain users, just to make impossible for them to play with this setting and ensure the compression remains always enabled. Is it possible? How?
