I see cPanel security team did not evaluate this feature request at all. AIM/ICQ still does NOT use a SSL/TLS connection to send data to AIM/ICQ client connection. I am willing to bet the majority of SysOps do NOT use this feature because you have disregarded this flaw for over 5 years or more.

Feature requests are not reviewed by the cPanel Security Team. The cPanel Security Team addresses security flaws in our products and the software our products rely on.
Furthermore, we do not support beta software with cPanel/WHM such as Skype for Linux Beta. Skype for Linux Beta is currently required since the only legally acceptable way in the United States for sending messages via Skype is to have a locally installed Skype client and use its API to send the messages. If you have data to dispute this claim, feel welcome to reply with that.
Also, if you have any alternatives that could work in a cPanel/WHM environment that do not rely on beta software nor legally questionable methods of interacting with Skype, they may be reviewed for consideration, especially if more than a handful of people express a desire for this functionality on this thread.
I have forked the request for XMPP/Jabber into its own request. If you desire that we add a secure communication method without all the potential implementation issues that come with Skype, you may want to view the thread for XMPP/Jabber instead:
