    Default Apache 2.4 [Case 51105]

I'd like to point out that the Beta version of Apache httpd 2.4 has been just released (httpd-2.3.11-beta).

Might be a good time to start working on integration into EA, since if everything goes well, GA should be released this month.

We have been monitoring Apache 2.4 for a while now. However, we have not opened a case to begin work on it yet since it has not yet reached final release. Our intent behind not supporting beta software is to ensure we spend our finite development sources on accommodating production-worthy software than the ever-moving target that beta software tends to present. However, Apache 2.4 is very much on our minds here at cPanel.

Can't wait. Do you think it will be released to EA faster than MySQL 5.5?

We were monitoring MySQL 5.5 before the feature request thread was created, similar to Apache 2.4. Without getting into a discussion about a different feature request here, there are quality assurance issues that need to be explored to ensure we can reliably migrate to a new version of MySQL (among other considerations). For cPanel, supporting new versions of software isn't just a matter of uploading a RPM or tarball and merely claiming we support it.

    Talking Apache 2.4 [Case 51105]

Very exciting news, I hope cPanel takes this as a top priority task and integrate Apache 2.4.0 ASAP.

    KeepAliveTimeout in milliseconds
It is now possible to specify KeepAliveTimeout in milliseconds.

    Loadable MPMs
Multiple MPMs can now be built as loadable modules at compile time. The MPM of choice can be configured at run time.

    Per-module and per-directory LogLevel configuration
The LogLevel can now be configured per module and per directory. New levels trace1 to trace8 have been added above the debug log level.

    Event MPM
The Event MPM is no longer experimental but is now fully supported.

    Asynchronous support
Better support for asynchronous read/write for supporting MPMs and platforms.
    Per-request configuration sections
<If> sections can be used to set the configuration based on per-request criteria

    General-purpose expression parser
A new expression parser allows to specify complex conditions using a common syntax in directives like SetEnvIfExpr, RewriteCond, Header, <If>, and others.

    Reduced memory usage
Despite many new features, 2.4.x tends to use less memory than 2.2.x.

    NameVirtualHost directive
No longer needed and is now deprecated.

Would you say it's more in weeks (meaning 2-3) or month(s), aka, which would likely to be released first, 11.32 CURRENT or Apache 2.4.

11.32 CURRENT will be long before an EasyApache update that accommodates Apache 2.4 from what I'm seeing at the moment. I'd say months rather than weeks.

Has anybody seen any performance benchmarks of 2.4 vs 2.2?

    Default Apache 2.4?

    https://blogs.apache.org/foundation/...ion_celebrates

The Apache Software Foundation released Apache 2.4 today. I noticed that my server does not find this update, but I suppose this is because the cPanel software probably handles the updates for software that it manages, which includes the webserver. Does cPanel have any plans or policy on how long before they add a new version of Apache to the EasyApache feature? I like to keep the software that my server runs up to date, but since my system is exclusively cPanel, I figured you should make those decisions.

    Hello

We do have an internal case open that notes the release of Apache 2.4. For reference, that case number is 51105.

There are currently no definitive dates on when this version will be implemented with EasyApache. I have moved this thread to the feature requests forum for the time being.

    Thank you.
