Default Apply/clone auto responder to multiple email addresses simultaneously

    Hello,

Start and stop dates are planned for 11.30 but there are some other flaws with the current auto responder !

I get a phone call from my customers every first time they set up auto-responders.

    1) Wrong default charset : Is there supposed to be an auto detection for the charset ? If not there should be ! or at least the default to be set to utf-8. When you go onto the auto responder page and click on "add auto responder" you cannot read the text if it is in a non english language (french) until you have chosen utf-8.

cPanel is all utf-8, why is the default charset for auto responders ansi-x3.110-1983 ?

    2) Black list ability : Our customers have requested black lists for auto responders. If they receive mailing lists or maybe daily reports, they might not want to send an auto response to theses addresses, they should be able to list all addresses they do not want to answer automatically.

    3) Easy auto responder selection : When cPanel has enabled multiple auto responders it woud be great if users could affect one auto responder to multiple addresses and not have to create 10 auto responders for 10 addresses. This could be done with a list of email addresses and a drop down list of auto responders so the user could select "None" if no auto responder was needed and the auto responders title when he wants the auto responder.

There could be a list of auto responders on the responders page and on the email account list page (in cPanel the ability to select auto responders.

We are already treating this as a bug. The case number for this is 45429 so feel welcome to monitor our changelogs for when case 45429 is resolved.

I have forked this into its own feature request thread: http://forums.cpanel.net/f145/blackl...er-204291.html

If you have multiple email addresses triggering the same auto-responder, have you considered using email forwarders as a solution?

Just a reminder, please keep feature requests to 1 per thread. You can create as many threads for feature requests as you want, but it makes things easier on us when we don't need to split threads for you. Thanks!

    Thank you,

Sorry about the multiple requests in one thread,

Email forwarders do not always do the same as being able to select one auto-responder for multiple email accounts.

You could imagine a boss wanting to put an auto-responder on all of his employees e-mail accounts during a company meeting saying that all employees are unavailable for the couple of hours of the meeting. If he could simply create the auto-responder with a begin and end date and then in the email list apply the same auto-responder to all email accounts, it would make it a lot easier than having to update manually all of the accounts.

I admit that in most cases you would not need this feature but there are some cases where it would be helpful. If you are going to allow multiple auto-responders management then I think it would be best to do it completely and make it into a finished product will all options.

That makes sense. I have updated the title of this thread to reflect that request and we'll see what others recommend regarding this functionality and see how many support the implementation of this functionality.

    Thank you,

My idea was not to directly create an auto-responder for multiple addresses but to be able to apply an existing auto-responder to multiple addresses.

You might have an annual meeting and want to use the same message every year. This message would be in the autoresponder list, you could change the begin and end date for this autoresponder then in the list of mailboxes you could choose which ones would use it.

I have adjusted the title of this thread accordingly.

However, regarding removal of these auto responders, they should be treated as individual auto responders, correct?

I see that my request has shown no interest for the moment but I am still getting requests like this from companies.

The latest request was to create groups of employee addresses organized by holiday dates et give all the ones with the same date the same auto responder saying that they are on holiday and will be back on a specified date.

If creating groups of auto responders is not of interest then maybe an autoresponder import system could be of interest ?

At least with this system my customers could prepare an excel spread sheet and duplicate all the columns except for the email addresses in order to quickly set up auto responders with the same message and same begin and end dates.

Are y'all looking for cloning an auto-responder to every email account under a cPanel account, or just to specific email accounts (meaning, not everyone)?

Not to every account, maybe to be able to select what accounts are to use a given auto responder. I don't know if you technically need to clone it or if you can just just associate the same auto responder to multiple accounts.

In a company you can imagine 1/3 of the employees going on vacation at a time. You would create an auto responder with a begin and end date, then when the next 1/3 of employees go on holiday you would remove the auto responder from the fist group, then edit it to and change the start and end date to apply it to the second group…

    That makes sense, thanks.
