Cool backups - exclude public_html directory [Case 39828]

Please can the backups allow for excluding of the "public_html" folder.

Also allow excluding of Databases, or Emails.

Allow this per domain as well. E.g. I can exclude a really large sites public_html.

That sounds very specific, why not just use the existing excludes functionality described at Excluding Files from Backup Using cpbackup-exclude.conf ?

yeah "cpbackup-exclude.conf" would do the job for "mail" and "public_html"

But is there a way to exclude mysql databases ?

That is a valid point (there is no way to exclude MySQL databases per-user), especially since some user databases can grow into the gigabytes nowadays. Let's see what input others have for this concept.

There is an option for skipping account databases (and Skip Home Directory) in the "Copy and Account from another server" options in WHM. Not what you seek of course, if there's a switch for that here, there might be a way to put one in Backup Options as well.

My question might be, where exactly do you wish this option to exclude things be located?
On the "Select Users for Backup" popup?
    The "Configure Backup" page?
Or in cPanel itself for the end user to be able to use these options?

The latter seems to be the most usable. The first 2 options might be a bit much on a server with 100s of accounts, wouldn't it? Multiple check boxes for specific directories on each and every account listed is what I'm thinking of.

What you're thinking of in this thread, is a bit different than what you have in mind in this thread, IMO:
exclude public_html when transferring sites between servers
