Default [case 53000] Authentication checking functionality for cPanel Remote FTP backup

    Hi Guys,

Am in the process of going through a long list of FTP based backups on numerous cPanel machines I thought it would be a handy feature for the /scripts/cpbackup command to have a --checkftpauth option (as at the moment there is only a --force flag).

This way I would be able to ensure that the credentials setup within the cPanel backup configuration do actually work and that I can login successfully to the remote server without having to perform a full cPanel backup.

You could take it a step further as well (if required) and perhaps just make sure you can create a new file / directory then delete it within the FTP server as well to ensure that there are read / write permissions at the remote end if required too --checkftprw ?)

    Best Regards,
    David Dunn

    Additionally,

Even just a 'check connection' button in the 'Configure Backup' section of WHM would suffice (kind of similar to how in the migration manager you can check the connection to the server you are migrating from).

Would definitely save some people a few hassles when they get things wrong.

    Best Regards,
    David

+1 to the "check connection" button.
