    Post Change IP address - website to temporarily continue working on old IP

    When a website IP address is changed in cPanel (or any hosting control panel), it is necessary for DNS to resolve for the website to start working again. Till it resolves, users end up seeing the cpanel default page or some other website which is quite an issue for almost any website. To overcome this, I suggest the following:

    On the change site IP address page, add an option - "Continue responding to website requests on old IP for 24-48 hours"

    To make this work, the website will temporarily need to have a virtual host entry in the apache configuration for the old IP as well for the temporary period. A file could be created for tracking and a cron job in cPanel could automatically purge these entries on expiry after 24-48 hours.

    You would not want to have two VirtualHost entries for the same domain. Additionally, each domain and subdomain on that account would need to have the entries.

    The preferred method for multiple IPs for a domain would be to have one VirtualHost entry as it currently exists already for each domain, then to have multiple IPs in the <VirtualHost IP:80> section for that domain so that you have:

    Code:
    <VirtualHost IP1:80 IP2:80>

    <VirtualHost IP1:80 IP2:80>
    This doesn't work.

    Duplicating virtual host with another IP address works great, no troubles.
