In version 11.31 we introduced the ability to migrate the Exim configuration from one server to another. Before we make something that does this for all services, we figured we'd first implement it for a service whose configuration is very frequently copied verbatim to another server. This will let us discover any real-world issues that can arise from this before we pursue more ambitious goals with this.

    Thank you.
Maybe it'll be good to start not from 3rd party services but from cPanel confs first?
Especially me would like to see functions like this:
    - copy "Basic cPanel & WHM Setup" settings from server1 to server2.
    - copy "Tweak Settings" settings from server1 to server2.
    - copy "Statistics Software Configuration" settings ...
    - copy "Apache mod_userdir Tweak" settings ...
    - copy "Background Process Killer" settings ...
and so on for all global cPanel settings that each server owner tunes during cPanel setup.

You see - all 3rd party services (exim, imap, mysql etc) settings can be copied w/o big problems, it's just config files copying&replacing.
But we can't copy cPanel settings - that's what we need on 1st place within this request as I see it.
    Regards, Alexey

Looking forward to this very much!

And I completely agree with AlexAT, it'd be much nicer to have these features first!

Please implement this feature. I have suggested this years back as well.

Installing a OS is not the problem, neither migrating all account with WHM, its the whole config. If you have tweaked every single settings in WHM, tuned your Apache, tuned your MySQL, configured your firewall, and applies all other possible small changes you forget even when documenting like branding, locale, etc, this is what takes time. This is what really, really takes hours with each new cPanel server and its a pain as you need to do a whole OS from time to time, like now for example where CentOS 6 came up you have nothing left but the option of doing a OS swipe. This means you need to setup a new server and move the data.

If you have a cluster, or even hundreds of servers like some here have, its really a pain to have to do all this config manually, specially when you have standard configs all over your hosting servers.

cPanel would really be in another level if they would allow to export and re import and config in the future even transfer it from one server to others like in a cluster setup.

United Hosting has requested that we support the ability to backup WHM server settings. This functionality seems like it will already support this, hence posting here instead of a new thread. I will fork this to its own thread at a later time if that is deemed necessary.

Just think of it as everyone knowing who to grab a recreational beverage for at the next hosting event after this gets implemented .

Please add us down for this feature as as well!! We had a server rooted and the only thing that took so long was re-configuring cPanel. This would have saved us hours of time.

    Thanks

Adding heat here.... Will definitely save us a lot of time in a lot of different scenarios if we can easily backup/restore/clone settings across servers.

+1, This would be an extremely useful feature to have.

I believe that it should be possible to back this up through WHM in a friendly format, similar to how sites are automatically backed up by cPanel. Then they can also be imported through WHM, as well as easily backed up by external backup engines.

+1. Remember this is also useful for smaller hosting providers. The datacenter will have their standard configuration, and we have our own tweaks that we need to apply to every new server. It would save a lot of time!
