Yes, it would be nice to have 2 columns of edit fields. IP + description/info.

I don't think so. Similar, but not the same topic. AFAIK, the post you linked is about informing the server name where the db is running in the MySQL setup screen. This thread is about allowing to identify what is every IP allowed for in the Remote SQL screen.
