Default Customize Sub-domain of Outgoing/Incoming Mail Server for Mail Client Settings

I would like to make a feature request to the mail settings in cPanel. When the Configure Mail Client is clicked. This is what is showen for manual settings:

    Manual Settings
    Mail Server Username: user+domain.tld
    Incoming Mail Server: mail.domain.tld
    Incoming Mail Server: (SSL) mail.domain.tld
Outgoing Mail Server: mail.domain.tld (server requires authentication) port 25
Outgoing Mail Server: (SSL) mail.domain.tld (server requires authentication) port 465
Supported Incoming Mail Protocols: POP3, POP3S (SSL/TLS), IMAP, IMAPS (SSL/TLS)
Supported Outgoing Mail Protocols: SMTP, SMTPS (SSL/TLS)

This is mainly for display purposes.

    Manual Settings
    Mail Server Username: user+domain.tld
    Incoming Mail Server: mail.domain.tld
    Incoming Mail Server: (SSL) mail.domain.tld
Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.domain.tld (server requires authentication) port 25
Outgoing Mail Server: (SSL) smtp.domain.tld (server requires authentication) port 465
Supported Incoming Mail Protocols: POP3, POP3S (SSL/TLS), IMAP, IMAPS (SSL/TLS)
Supported Outgoing Mail Protocols: SMTP, SMTPS (SSL/TLS)

I personally think it looks professional to have the subdomain for the outgoing mail to match the mail service the client is using. Be it smtp or imap. If this can be changed already in cPanel or WHM. Please let me know. If not, please consider this a feature request.

    Question

I'm not sure I understand the question, but whether you use IMAP or SMTP the incoming and outgoing are the same.
    mail.domain.tld

Can you please be more specific in what you think could be changed to make this better?

The incoming mail server is set as mail.domain.tld. The outgoing is set as mail.domain.tld. I understand that the mail system will still deliever the mail to the user by using the out going mail system at mail.domain.tld.

I was wondering if the system could be changed, for professional display purposes, to smtp or imap. The smtp or imap depends on what the client, the user, picks for there settings.

So instead of the Manual settings showing this:

    Incoming: mail.domain.tld
    Outgoing: mail.domain.tld

    It will show this:

    Incoming: mail.domain.tld
    Outgoing: smtp.domain.tld or
    imap.domain.tld

The outgoing is choosen by the user when they setup there email client.

    Question

Still not sure why that way is more professional than the other easier to remember way though.

Default This can be easily done.

This can be easily done by adding a cname to the DNS records. It just would not show it in the cPanel Instructions.

That is correct; custom DNS records can be added to allow the use of different sub-domains for mail server access. If sub-domains other than "mail." are desired, I would consider customizing the DNS zone templates so that the new DNS records are added automatically upon creating new cPanel accounts. DNS zone templates can be modified using WebHost Manager (WHM) via the following menu path: WHM: Main >> DNS Functions >> Edit Zone Templates
