Filed with Developers Disable Autoresponder Option [Case 27758]

Hi all

Before I post this as a feature request to bugzilla I thought I'd put a post up here.

A couple of my users have mentioned this to me that it would be good if cPanel had the option of disabling autoresponders rather than needing to add and delete an autoresponder every time you need to use it.

So they set it up once, and then enable / disable it as needed.

I'm running 11.23.4-RELEASE_26138 in case this is a feature that's been added.

I did a search on the forums and I don't think it's ever been put in bugzilla since I couldn't find it there either.

Why would someone want to add/remove autoresponders and toggle autoresponder abilities on/off?
Either they use it or they don't. If they don't no harm is done.

One workaround to disable autoresponders on a specific account that is abusing autoresponders would be to chown and chmod the .autorespond directory.

ie. chown root:root /home/username/.autorespond; chmod 000 /home/username/.autorespond

This command will prevent the user from adding any autoresponders.
It will most likely also result in an error in the user's cPanel when trying to add one..
Ofcourse this is just a workaround. Not a solution.

STDOUT, I think you missed the original point entirely.

He's not trying to disable people from using autoresponders. He's saying that instead of having to delete them (and then re-enter the whole darn thing if you want to use it again), that it would be nice to be able to enable/disable the individual autoresponders. That way the information would be saved if you ever want to use it again. I know I would use this feature a lot.

I am just updating this thread, which is out-of-date by over a year, to note this is currently under review for inclusion into the software. I have no ETA yet, but our internal case number for this feature is 27758.
