DNS Server Alternatives (PowerDNS)

Hi Guys,

Is there way to have cpanel use PowerDNS instead of bind? I know out of the box it isnt possible however I am hoping that perhaps there is a patch or plugin that allows it? If this is a no go, are there any plans by Cpanel to support PoweDNS?

I don't think PowerDNS has a big enough demand for cPanel to include support for it.

I see your support mydns, would also like powerDNS, that way, my vps systems can share the same nameservers as my cpanel servers, thanks.

I merged both PowerDNS threads.

There are no plans to support PowerDNS, however as of 11.32 the dns system has plugin support so support could be developed without our intervention.

From the looks of the plugin system, if I did create something, it will make cpanel dns servers pull records from another dns system right?

I don't like daisy chaining stuff.

Where do I find the code that interacts with mydns, given they are almost identicle in mysql structure, makes me wonder if I could copy the module you've written for mydns and change the details for powerdns.

where do I look?
