    Smile Easier Scheduling of Backups

Currently, to schedule when Backups occur, you need to:

    1. Install the cPanel Pro Plugin
    2. Activate that plugin
    3. Refresh the WHM interface
    4. Go to Configure cPanel Cron Times under "Plugins"

This process is unintuitive and could probably be assisted with either a link on the Configure Backup page to this tool or just by integrating this functionality directly into the Configure Backup page.

Please share your input on how you believe this specific functionality should be implemented.

I think it would be best to have directly within "Configure Backup".

A related topic I came to these forums for just now actually surrounds the cPanel Pro plugin so I hope you don't mind me asking. I have installed the plugin, however wish to disable cpup from running. Automatic updates of cPanel make me uneasy.

So I commented the running of cpup out by editing the cron directly. This worked, until I updated cPanel. At least, after updating I found the cron for cpup was active again. I presume the upgrade reinstated the cron settings.

My question is firstly whether it is possible to disable cPanel Pro from performing automated cPanel updates?

My second question is what other features are apart of cPanel Pro? I have tried searching for information, but I seem to only find bits and pieces of information and much of it is really old. Is there a faq or something somewhere for the cPanel Pro plugin?

    Any response heaps appreciated.

Please note that cPanel Pro, as installed via WHM Manage Plugins, does not setup or manage the crontab entry for upcp. Regarding the optional WHM plug-in "cronconfig" this allows editing, not removal, of the root crontab entry for both cpbackup and upcp.

The following menu path should be used if needing to properly disable automatic updates:
WHM: Main >> Server Configuration >> Update Preferences (Update Config)

When disabling automatic updates via WHM please be aware it is not necessary to manually remove the root crontab entry for upcp; however, if you must remove it then I would suggest having this action performed by a custom script, a custom script may be executed via a script hook such as preupcp and postupcp, as detailed in the following documentation: cPanel/WHM Script Hooks

Applicable to the end-user (web site owner) cPanel control panel, here are three of the features added by cPanel Pro:
    Image Manager
    Leech Protect
Support System Submission (configured via WHM)

Here is our documentation related to the above (including both cPanel and WHM):
cPanel: Main >> Security >> Leech Protect
cPanel: Main >> Advanced >> Image Manager
cPanel: Main >> Advanced >> Submit a Support Request
WHM: Main >> Support >> Configure Customer Contact
