I was looking through this thread out of boredom, saw this title and thought "What a great idea!"... Totally forgot I started it.
Looks like MariaDB is getting a lot of support. What about Percona?

If i haven't mentioned it before, some issues you may need to address with MariaDB devs or follow the issues at least
- https://kb.askmonty.org/en/will-mari...p-mysql-plugin
- https://kb.askmonty.org/en/mariadb-5...ed-exit-status
- https://kb.askmonty.org/en/centos-5x...ts-and-postfix
Other than that, I've been using MariaDB 5.2.x since Feb/March 2011 so nearly a full year without problems itself.
any one got tutorial of replacing mysql with mariadb on cpanel ?
+1 from me also for this!
Another RC of MariaDB was released this past week. They are planning for a general release soon. According to cpanelnick, they will consider including it then. Until then, this the general procedure (although I have not tried it with MariaDB):This process should keep all your databases intact.
- Turn off MySQL automatic updates in WHM->Server Configuration->Update Preferences
- Follow the regular installation instructions
I have a spare server laying around, so when I get a chance to plug it in, I can verify that this works as expected.
The GA of MariaDB 5.3 is out!
