Having multiple skeleton directories available to set up different types of accounts would be an awesome feature.
Ie:
skel1 = package1
skel2 = package2
Or something of this nature

While it isn't quite the same, you can create resellers for specific packages and create reseller skeleton directories, then assign a new account to a set reseller and package to obtain the files and folders for that skeleton directory.

Hi Tristan, this type of request goes back beyond 2004, why doesn't cPanel just code the ability to select a skeleton directory with a specific package? Can you have mutliple ressellers for the same domain? If so how do I create them?
Cheers
You cannot have multiple resellers for the same domain. You'd have to associate a dummy reseller account for each individual package that you want to have a different skeleton directory, then you'd assign the user to that reseller. The domain doesn't even have to be a working domain for the reseller you create, since the purpose of the reseller is to have the skeleton directory available for it.

Thanks Tristan,in order for me to accomplish this I need to purchase an additional package from Hostgator before I can create a new reseller account - renders our business plan useless! This is such a common request from a large number of users going back many years; you would expect cPanel to have addressed it. BUT then companies like Hostgator would not make all those $ from people like me trying to perform a simple process.

I have filed this request with our developers so we can get this on our to-do list. I assume for compatibility to existing billing scripts, you should also have the ability to designate a default skeleton directory to use should one not be specified (e.g. using old billing software, you don't want to specify one etc.)
I will be posting updates here.
One idea we're tossing around internally is: what about having different skeleton directories assigned to different packages? This way when you create an account that belongs to a specific package, you can have it automatically use a specific skeleton directory? This would maximize compatibility with existing billing automation tools plus it seems like it would save some work for people that have, for example, a hosting plan that is for a specific product (e.g. WordPress hosting package).
