So, what do you think, any chances to see this happen?

I was wondering, if we did add nginx support, would you want to use nginx as a drop-in replacement for Apache or in conjunction with Apache?

I know some folks like to use Apache for stuff like CGI/PHP and use a faster server (e.g. nginx) to serve static content, but there was a mention of PHP-FPM which seems to imply using nginx in place of Apache.

Would something for selecting your preferred web server similar to the Nameserver selection screen where you can select BIND vs. NSD be acceptable? Or is a dual nginx/Apache setup something you require?

    Thanks for your response.

Seems like the "dual nginx/Apache" approach is the more common. From all I have been able to gather the nginx layer would effectively spool requests on their way to the Apache system, thereby keeping Apache from being overwhelmed (ala DoS), while also including optional rules the further help put down any attacks. That and the fact that it works to serve static files, further relieving Apache from this duty, seems like the dual nginx/Apache system would be an all around plus for cPanel.

The only thing I am concerned about are those few reports I see here and there that nginx may interfere with Apache's own logging system. So hopefully cPanel can work out a solution for this as well.

Perhaps Nginx in conjuction with Apache would be easy to implement, flexible and compatible with the most common configurations. It would also allow cPanel to be far better than the competitors as none of them has this feature (AFAIK).

That can be solved with a patch, and that patch is provided in another thread at the central cpanel forum.

For me i would like to see 3 options:
    1) apache only
    2) nginx + apache
    3) nginx only (with the related phpfm or spawn-fcgi)

What i'm using now, is nginx+apache, and the results are super, the load is almost zero, where in the past was near 2 and upper.
