redirecting www version of a subdomain to a non-www versioni

Redirecting a subdomain like www.sub.domain.com --> sub.domain.com is seen as this in the cpanel tool "redirects":
sub.domain.com --> sub.domain.com

In other words the www is omitted in the first entry, thought it does work correctly, removing the www from the subdomain in the URL.
