Thanks, I'll make note of that.

To me these features are not often demanded because too many people are expecting them to be already there.
E.g DropBox and the outrage when they made clear how exactly they handle and encrypt the data.
Different people have different expectations, hence the feature request process to allow everyone to discuss their perspective and allow us to act accordingly. Also, as for DropBox, the issue was they claimed to encrypt the data but they did not.

Encrypted transfer. Encrypted data. The question is why not?
So far, that seems to be the general trend of discussion. We already plan to do encrypted transfer (hence the case number in the title of this thread), encrypted data at the destination is a different feature request that is being processed separately.

To convince developers I need to know what is currently their priority ;-) Would be interesting.

    Hi David,

I have just spent 10 minutes looking for the reference of SFTP Backup in the Abbreviated Roadmap sticky and corresponding links, but found no reference, please could you point me in the direction of this roadmap reference...

p.s: We have just hit this stumbling block ourselves with having disabled FTP on our servers and only using SFTP, this is preventing us from using WHM FTP Backup and are having to resort to local backup and then RSYNC...

    Default SFTP support for cpbackup

Would like to see cpbackup have the option of using a secure transfer method (SFTP) for remote backups. Would be cool if it supported maybe SCP too.

Also rsync to another host instead of a directory.

Rsync should be flat filed as well if we choose, as in not tarballs.

+1 More supported protocols are always good, and allow administrators to do things that weren't possible before. For some SFTP is the preferred option and they might currently use FTP only to make it work with cPanel, which shouldn't be the case.

SFTP backups are already planned for version 11.34. I will merge this discussion into the existing discussion on SFTP.

Crothers: The new backup system will be pluggable so you can build your own plugin for that in the event we do not bundle a plugin to accommodate that.

Any word on when this will be released? I need it badly, as I cannot change the FTP port from 21.

11.34 is out now, but it doesn't seem to have the option to backup to multiple destinations simultaneously.
When is this supposed to be coming?
    Thanks.
