What method was used to install Tomcat?
The latest Tomcat version supported in cPanel/WHM is v5.5.27 and can be installed safely using EasyApache.
Before running EasyApache, I recommend to remove the existing Tomcat v6, and ensure there are no left-over remnants saved, then start fresh by installing Tomcat via EasyApache.
Please note that Tomcat requires an experienced Tomcat administrator to fully configure or customize as needed. Our EasyApache tool will install Tomcat for you, but advanced Tomcat configuration is up to your Systems Administration team.
Please also see our documentation for EasyApache; Tomcat can be selected in the EasyApache Options list as detailed here:
OptionsLists < EasyApache3 < TWiki
EasyApache < EasyApache3 < TWiki
Here is the menu path to run EasyApache via your root WHM control panel:
WHM: Main >> Software >> EasyApache (Apache Update)
After EasyApache has completed successfully with Tomcat enabled, JSP servlets can be installed using the following menu path via your root WHM control panel:
WHM: Main >> Account Functions >> Install Servlets
(If the option is not yet seen, please try refreshing WHM in your browser or optionally log-out then log-in again to refresh the menu.)

Hello,
I have a Cpanel/WHM server on linux CentOS and it is mandatory to have tomcat 6 installed.
Is there any method to install or upgrade to Tomcat 6?
Tomcat 5.x was installed with easyapache and runs fine, but when tomcat was upgraded to version 6, tomcat is not stable or not work well.
Finally tomcat 6 and 5 were unsistalled.
Now we plan to install tomcat 6 directly or not with easyapache.
Is there any method or step by step guide to install tomcat 6?
Tomcat 6 is mandatory, the application does not work with tomcat 5.x.
I really appreciate your feedback.
Regards,
Martin
To better organize and track discussion we have merged several threads discussing Tomcat 6 or requesting support for Tomcat version 6 to be added into EasyApache in cPanel and WHM. For greater visibility the merged thread is now relocated into our new forums area dedicated to Feature Requests for cPanel and WHM.
While this request is open we would like to hear your thoughts and suggestions detailing how you prefer Tomcat 6 to be implemented, including if you would like to see any changes or enhancements to the existing use of Tomcat, such as in comparison to the present option for Tomcat 5.5 that is currently available in EasyApache/EasyApache3.
Here are a number of links to the official Apache Tomcat web site, documentation, and wiki, that I believe may be of interest while researching Tomcat and to help you determine if Tomcat 6 may be a beneficial option in your hosting environment and business needs:

I to require Tomcat 6.0 for my application.
I've found this partial solution on someone else's site:
Installing Tomcat 6 on a cPanel Server | steve hulet
Version 6.0 was released 4 years ago, could we please get this implemented?
Apache Tomcat 6 implements the Servlet 2.5 and JSP 2.1 specifications and is required for most modern JAVA technologies.
Failing to support Tomcat 6 in EasyApache leaves CPanel out of the modern JAVA game (By the way Tomcat 7 is already in beta status). Tomcat 6 is stable and should be the default option in EasyApache.
What is the status on EasyApache/Tomcat 6 integration?
Is there any news on this issue? JAVA developers have felt the could shoulder from cPanel for a number of years. Does cPanel recognize or even care about this?
An internal case has been filed for this feature request but I am not aware of a definitive version ETA being set at this time. For change log tracking purposes, the feature request for Tomcat 6 has been assigned case ID 2685. In the meantime, I recommend that anyone needing Tomcat 6 to please express your interest by posting in this feature request; the more cPanel users that share his or her desire for Tomcat 6 (via this thread) the more likely it will come sooner rather than later.
Please keep in mind that discussion of Tomcat 7 is premature at this time as the software is only BETA and not yet ready for production; when a final, stable release is published it can be considered using a separate feature request.
If any news becomes available we will update this thread to ensure everyone is equally informed.![]()

Please, we should be able to choose between Tomcat 5.5.3 and Tomcat 6.x (and eventually Tomcat 7). There's no reason that I can see why cPanel would not upgrade EasyApache to enable this.
Please push this to a top priority. Thank you.
Any news?
Can some software engineer at cPanel make the small change necessary to support this?
Please.
Version 6 would be good, I guess 5 will be depreciated soon once 7 is released.
