Yes, current concept is very confusing and not convinient for clients, and also bad for the hosting provider, because of lot support requests and issues previosly reported.

This addon/subdomain concept should be completely dropped, and instead we should probably have only "Domains" page in cPanel with all domains listed and equally threated with completely separate directory structure. Of course one domain that is initially created with cPanel account should still be listed as "main" domain, but that main domain will be easy changable when we have separate directory structure, and no subdomains linked to those domains.

I'd like it to stay the same. sub-domain logs within /home/domlogs/user/ We already have a script that backs up this data per day to another drive. It's just taking almost a year and a half to get implemented so that sub-domains and add-on domains can have an IP, too.

This is quite a big feature in terms of developpement. While this feature is our favorate one, I can understand others wanting features like IPV6 first.

The main reason why we want this feature is to have the ability of choosing the web directory for multiple SSL certificates inside a single hosting account as this would allow multisite installations of scripts to have SSL certs while only having one set of files to maintain by the webmaster.

I have been using Panel for a few days after migrating from Plesk. Much more robust to say the least and
a lot more flexible, but the fact that I can't migrate a domain to a new account is a pain.

I forgot the cPanel doesn't allow multiple SSL certs on one IP and now the domain, database and application I built I
will have to do again or figure out a way to move it into another account

It's true that there are lots of instances where different domains, both needing SSL would need to access the same files.

It's not one IP with multiple SSL certs (as this is not possible) but to allow multiple IP's on one account.

Actually, that is possible with SNI for which we have a separate feature request thread for: http://forums.cpanel.net/f145/case-4...nel-83661.html

Default True Multi Domain Support (multiple certificates & IPs per acct) Case 40954

Moderator Edit: Extracted from post with numerous feature requests
At present a lot of web hosts are providing ‘unlimited’ resources for their customers and they keep adding domains ( addon domains ). If one of them need an SSL to be installed, I think they need to convert that domain to a new account and then allot a dedicated IP and then install SSL. Or edit the apache configuration files and change the virtual host entry
