Default Web Disk access script for Windows 7 [Case 57511]

Hi, I'm trying to setup webdisk and everything SHOULD work fine but in practice it doesn't. I've setup the webdisk account in cPanel and I login via a browser but see nothing.

When I try to map a drive in Windows 7, it accept the URL, but it just does not seem to like the username and password.

Anyone know WHY this would happen? I've tried with both port 2077 and with webdisk.example.com.

    Thanks.

Are you copy/pasting in the username and password? If so try typing them in instead.

If possible, please try accessing WebDisk from a different computer and or using dedicated WebDAV client software; it may also help to try accessing from a system using a different major-version of the operating system for comparison and troubleshooting purposes.

For verbose reference information and details on using the cPanel WebDisk (WebDAV) feature I recommend reviewing our documentation at the following page:
cPanel Web Disk (WebDAV) - TWiki

To help find alternatives for dedicated WebDAV client software, the following is a third-party wiki article that lists computer applications for file management, some of which have support for WebDAV as indicated in the table comparing support for various network protocols:
Comparison of file managers, Network protocols - Wikipedia

Here is an additional third-party link that may also help to locate more alternatives; this page lists a collection of WebDAV-related projects and software:
WebDAV Projects and Software - WebDAV.org

Windows Vista (and assumedly Windows 7) do not support Basic authentication to Web Folders (cPanel Web Disk) over non-SSL connections. Try using port 2078 instead.

I know how you feel. I myself have problems accessing Web Disk in Windows 7. I've tried using port 2078 (SSL) but it would ask for the username and password twice but would never get through. It would still say "folder not found". I've tried even using the Software Update for Web Folders (KB907306) but it still didn't work.

I suggest you just use a third party web client. Here an article which might help you - Web Folders / Web disk / WebDAV problems on Windows 7.

I do hope this gets fixed though so we can use Windows Explorer again for Web Disk. I'm more inclined to believe this is a Microsoft issue though.

Default WebDisk Script for Windows 7

Currently WebDisk does not provide script for Windows 7 as it does for XP and Vista. It would be useful for this script to be available for down loading from cPanel for Windows 7 users who desire to use WebDisk.

    Default need downloadable script

Maybe the great folks at cPanel will make an upgrade patch that includes a downlaodable script for Windows 7 users that want to use WebDisk.

Likewise a big issue for me and 3rd party solutions minimise the usefulness of webdisk as you may as well use ftp.

I would also like to see a fix and windows 7 script added.

    Many thanks

An older thread has been merged with this feature request as both are discussing the same topic, that of using Windows 7 to access cPanel Web Disk.

Can we please get an update on this? When will cPanel's Webdisk be supported on Windows 7?

Default Windows 7 is a problem

I am mostly posting so I will get the further posts on this. I just setup a HostGator account. I believe it has cPanel v11.25 based on posts in the forum there, but I didn't see a quick way to find the version in the cPanel UI there.

I too have been unable to setup the Web Disk facility under Windows 7. I tried the Vista script, tried manually referencing a Microsoft forump post (Webdisk/webdav problem in Windows 7). I'm well familiar with the Windows Firewall and have manually opened both the SSL and non-SSL ports for both inbound and outbound.

The symptom I find is that the Microsoft "Map Network Drive" facility must see the server, but it just hangs there forever without logging in. Obviously something wrong with the Windows 7 interface as it clearly gets stuck.

Since I have been able to get the Web Disk working for the same account under Windows XP and even Vista, I have no doubt Microsoft changed something in the WebDAV interface again, breaking things again, and I can only hope the folks at cPanel can figure out the issues.

Please, when you do inform users in this thread of cPanel having fixed the problem introduced with Windows 7, would you be so kind as to also post the version of cPanel in which the update is implemented? Hosting services tend not to immediately upgrade to the latest, and it would be handy to know which version of cPanel has the update.
