surely if you chose daily backup then the system should automatically backup every day without you having to check the days you want the backup to run as you have already chosen daily backups.

It makes sense then to disable backups on Wednesday but have daily backups every remaining day of the week. to me and i most liely can say a majority of people, when daily backup is chosed then this should backup each and every day SSMTWTF. if you want it to backup up on specific days taking your example and miss out wed, then chose weekly backups and chose which days you want backed up.

yes this is what you explained, as the weekly gives any user the option if a high server load day to not backup on that day, but as far as chosing the daily backup option this should backup every day automatically as in the UK daily means every day (7 days)

right if you want to chose daily backups the system should backup every day (7 days) automatically.
if you have a server load heavy on a web but want to backup all other days they you can use the weekly backups and chose SSMTTF leaving out W.
if you only want a backup on a W then use the weekly option and only chose W.
