    Default XML-API Request: Allow multiple DNS operations prior to restarting nameserver

    Hi,

    Everytime there is a successful call to removezonerecord, editzonerecord or addzonrecord then BIND is reloaded. This makes for a potential slow set of transactions.

    For example if I were to edit two records, delete one and add 3 records to a zone that would be 6 BIND reloads (doing it in WHM would be one reload).

    It would be nice to have an additional parameter on these calls:

    reload=no/yes

    (yes as default) that only does a bind reload (synchronisation to other dns servers) if "yes" .

    Then have a separate call of:

    reloadzone?domain=domainname

    that does the reload and resynch for a domain.

    That way we could update records in the name file and only at the end we would do a reload - far more efficient I would have thought.

    does this make sense ?

    cheers

    jim

    Thank you for the new request. Please note that while we do actively monitor and evaluate each new feature request there may be a nominal delay between replies by other users and or if it is posted during a weekend. Allowing more time for public review will help the idea to be seen by more cPanel users and receive public comment, enabling us to better gauge which requests might be more useful or are more popular.

    Sorry - didn't mean to come across as complaining - was just concerned that I hadn't explained myself too well - I am sometimes not that clear in emails :-)

    This would be very useful for us as well. We frequently have to run our code on servers with about 1500 zones.
    For every record deleted (1-3) and created (1-3) it would mean that we could do 6 reloads per domain means we have to do 1500x6=9000 reloads while we could've just done 1500.

    This would increase the speed of the whole process quite a bit if implemented.
