cPanel Vulnerability?

Today there was a hacker who has defaced 1000's of websites using cpanel/whm. The hacker is claiming a vulnerability in cpanel...is this true? Or it simply a vulnerability in a linux package?

(As you can see, every website is being ran by cpanel if you go to :2082, and the hacker claims it's a cpanel vulnerability. Not sure if he is just saying that to scare millions of people or what)
