are you 64bit, are you using more than 4gn of ram , need just a little bit more info

more than 4gb look at pae
64bit you should be ok with
2.6.18-164.11.1.el5

I am migrating a box in a week and should i go with 64bit version centOS this time ?

go 64-bit version for sure. It is stable and efficient.

in 64-bit you only need to do : yum upgrade kernel

on 32-bit with PAE you need: yum upgrade kernel-PAE

to see if your kernel is PAE, type:

uname -a and look for kernel version whether it has PAE at the end or not.

I am currently not running PAE

I'll be moving a couple of servers coming weekend so it would all be 64 bit now onwards.
