    Default Security Basics

    Hi.

    A am setting up a dedicated server for the first time using WHM + Cpanel.

    Could anyone please advise on what security measures need to be taken?

    You might want to hike on over to ConfigServer Services and get them to harden your server. Money well spent, even after 6 years I still use these guys.

    They have a list there describing what they do, well worth it. Also get cxs while you're there - upload scanner - think it's free with their hardening package. Their anti-spam (Mailscanner) package rocks too, almost no spam gets through.
