    Default Spyware Scanner

Lately we have seen an increase in the number of accounts being hacked into via FTP. We suspect that these hacks are due to trojans/spyware/keyloggers installed on the end-user's computer system.

What malware/spyware scanner do you recommend to your clients to detect this software? Is there one particular software application that you believe is better than others?

    This would be for Windows.

mcafee.com, Malwarebytes is a better option to prevent such attacks.

Some scripts such as Joomla store the ftp username and password in plain text in the config file.

So if you have one hacked account, the hacker can get the ftp passwords for other accounts.

    See what this finds:
    locate configuration.php

You can also use John the Ripper to test for insecure passwords.

Default Malware infection in one of the files

Sir I am using the Google Chrome browser to execute my homepage. While i was browsing the homepage, one of my files was detected to have been infected by Malware, so how do I get rid of the viral infection in my file?

One very good anti spyware tool (though acts a bit like an antivirus as well) is A-Squared Free. Also try with some online scanners.

If you are referring to the "iframe virus" it is quite common and one good antivirus that detects and removes it is PC Tools.

    Default spyware scanner

Go to Lavasoft and download it's free AD-AWARE program.
If you want to be DOUBLY sure, find, download, and install SPYBOT SEARCH AND DESTROY as well.
What one of these programs fails to find is usually found by the other one.
    Both are free.
    Good luck.
