SSL cert for add on domains.

If I set up a main domain called DOMAIN.COM, then underneath that I have 5 other subdomains added as "add on" domains, for example:

APP1.DOMAIN.COM
APP2.DOMAIN.COM
APP3.DOMAIN.COM
APP4.DOMAIN.COM
APP5.DOMAIN.COM

Then I want to give the main domain and the sub domain an SSL certificate.

Do I need to buy ONE SSL cert or 5? (I would assume 5).

What about IP address? Can they all share the same ip address if they have ssl certs and are add on domains?

SSL is issued on domain and dedicated IP is mandatory requirement for it. For subdomains you will have to purchase separate ssl certificate and each will have to assign dedicated IP.

Yes, you are totally right.

But I am getting wildcard ssl cert to take care of the ssl requirements and assigning each sub domain to a unique ip.

In order to set it up though and give the subdomains a unique ip, I have followed this tutorial from cpanel: Assigning Dedicated IPs to Subdomains

This will all make my life easier I think!.
