Default Identify Resource Usage During Peak Hours

    Hi Folks,

Firstly, apologies if this is in the wrong forum - please let me know if I should post elsewhere.

I want to ask if there is any way of identifying what the resource usage on my server is at peak hours. I'm aware of the daily process log but this is obviously an average - is this the only option using Cpanel/WHM?

Essentially I'm trying to identify whether I actually need the CPU and RAM installed on my server, or if I would be able to downgrade to a cheaper option without it having any impact on the server performance.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks

Check "WHM > Process Manager" which is essentially the output of top command. This should give you a run time statistic rather than an average.

    Hello,

Another option is to install sysstat.

    yum install sysstat

Then you can use the "sar" and "sar -r" commands to view resource usage at various times. I hope this helps you in your endeavor.

I second that. sar -q would let you know the load average. Sysstat gives a good 24 hour retrospective of load and disk I/O activity.
