    Dear Cpanel Staff

will cpanel windows beta be released today? can you include me on the beta testers i already filled the form but i would be glad to test cpanel in windows 2008 core by myself

today i have some brute force detection scripts i made in vbs to control remote desktop terminal services access, MSFTP, MSSQL and also i have a MTA script for mail enable standard that can act as a mail spam filter and also a clamav mail scanner

i am working on windows 2008 to finish some little corrections from 2003 to 2008 and they will be published in a web site very soon for free and also a more complete set of compiled scripts for a small donation fee

some of the scripts are completly free, they work with ipsec policy and they not conflit with microsoft sp2 firewall the can be used together

it can close also all tcp remote connections and udp local and remote ports not assigned blocking from all mallicious application in free ipsec templates, one of the scripts can send emails everytime someone log as administrator on remote desktop at the servers, some of then can look for long process and kill then very close to what we are used to do in nix boxes, so would be nice to test all this together in 2008 server and cpanel... to know how permissions will be set, how front page will isolate sites, if 2008 server will handle hundred of applications pools what in 2003 eat all servers memory and more

to tell you the true my windows servers have the same configuration that my linux ones but they seems to support more websites, windows 2003 server was always excelent and fast even to perl , php and mysql... as well as asp, asp.net (a bit slower) and other isapi extentions
congratulations on the new release i hope this happen soon

    Default Mee too :(

Did anyone have the cPanel Beta on Win2k8 yet..?

Well.. I too subscribed for the Beta version and did not receive any confirmation emails. I work for two companies and subscribed for both but have not heard on any of them. I am sure that the email address mentioned was correct.

Is there a way to confirm whether we will receive it or not..? an email or a phone number..?
Can I contact cPanel Support, will they be answerable to it or should I PM the Administrator of this forums..?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.. as we are keen to have cPanel on Windows.

    Thank you.

I doubt anyone got the BETA yet, probably some ALPHA testers are out there, but we havent been told what version of W2k8 we would need nor what other software or hardware requirements. Its probably delayed a bit, which would be normal for something this big. Honestly I am suprised they would release even a BETA so close to the holidays.

Hey, come on if it's named 2008 BETA then you won't get it before 2008.
Well true that I can't talk for them but Im taking it in logical way.. also when beta comes out it takes some time before it could be reliable soft to pass it over to your clients.

Well.. Microsoft 2k8 Free Beta license expires in April 2008. I hope we have cPanel Beta release before that.

This development has been pending for years now, cPanel always said that "We are not ready to release it as yet..", I hope that is not the case this time.

Come on guys let's keep in the scope i am basing my questions on this url:

    http://www.cpanel.net/products/cpss/index.html

as you can clearly see there is a paragraph that states the following:

    Program Commitment
As many of you know cPanel has been working for several years on a version of cPanel and WebHost Manager that will run on Microsoft Windows Server. Recently we re-staffed the project and committed enough resources to the project to move it along at an accelerated rate. We expect to release the beta version of the product on December 15th 2007 and have the production release available by March 30th 2008.

So i am not in a hurry, other people told me reminding some other cpanel's announcements before in the release of windows 2000 and 2003 but this time i think cpanel is really about to release windows support so that is why i asked otherwise they would not placed a banner and briefing of the control panel here:

    http://www.cpanel.net/products/cpss/features.pdf

if it will be a normal and expected delay to lets suppose 15 january or any other date maybe it might be possible that cpanel give us a feedback

    thank you

    Default cPanel Win2K8

    Hello all,

Yes it's a bit strange we have not been contacted further about this. It is past December 15 and it would be good if they could let us know at what stage they are at in releasing the BETA version. Im anxious to try it out, have a virtual server already setup and its been running since the 15th and theres no news about the BETA release yet. Hopefully a cPanel member will reply to this post with more news assuming they read this thread.

    Cheers,
    Johno

I have a feeling that the virtual server is not going to work with the Cpanel environment. Since the VS runs under another O/S (xp,2003,etc..) I cant see how Cpanels usual installation stuff can work with that.

    Thats easy nyjimbo,

It doesn't matter what the underlying OS is. Since the virtual server is Windows Server 2008, cPanel will only see this. Performance will vary depending on the physical hardware (and the virtual specifications of the virtual server). Other than that, it really wont make a difference. It will work just the same

I wonder when will their 15th December come. We are already celebrating Christmas and Cpanel has not even reached 15th December.

I don`t know why you guys really want cPanel to release a product without properly testing it. You guys probably want another Vista-like product, glamourous, nice interface and full of bugs.
I`d really suggest leaving out the "come on" stuff, and just asking "how`s it going".
I`d rather wait another 3 months for a better product that a BSOD-type product.

    bin_asc,

We are waiting for the BETA version, meaning it will have bugs. But we want to TEST the product to help cPanel sort out the bugs and offer some suggestions for an improved product. So when it is released, you will have a product that is alot better. Btw, your analogy of Vista is incorrect, you should have used Windows XP as when they released that, it was full of bugs. Vista, like any other product has bugs, but i think microsoft has actually put the effort into Vista and it is alot better product. But anyways, thats going off topic.

Either way, we are trying to find out how the BETA release is going so we can know more about when we will get to download it.

    Cheers,
    Johno

It`s one thing to wait for a beta, and another thing to keep pushing, my honest opinion.

Who says we are waiting for the final product? Cpanel was supposed to release the beta for Windows 2008 and we are eagerly waiting for it. Is there anything wrong in testing the beta version and helping cpanel sort out the bugs and make it a better product?
