Ewww, very nice Richard. Thank you for the reply. I won't be upgrading to edge yet as I only run release on my servers, but I will follow this now and see how it progresses. Hopefully it will be soon. If anyone hears anything about this being available for release or stable, let everyone know!
    Thanks,

    Ben

Here is something cpanel users or developers might be interested in, if they haven't seen it already.

    Default DKIM installation

I am having problems trying to find out where to install the DKIM key to be included in the outgoing mail header.

I am running WHM/cPanel 11.24.4 on a Centos 5.2 dedicated server with 7 IPs. I used two IP addresses on my box, and created DNS servers. I have 4 regular websites on this server, and the goal is to install DKIM support. (I had to create my own DNS servers since my hosting company will not support DKIM or DomainKeys).

When I generate the public/private key pair, I can find the zonefile for one of the keys, but I don't know where to install the key that the Exim mail picks up to send in the headers.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Are you using the cPanel tools to create the keys? If so, they should be placed in the appropriate locations for exim to use.

    Default DKIM key locations

    cpanelkenneth,

I did use the DomainKeys function in cPanel, and it did place keys in the DNS as default._domainkey IN TXT "k=rsa; p=MHwwDQYJK....DAQAB;"

    And the mail was routed to the Yahoo spam folder with mainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; q=dns; c=nofws; s=default; d=reddinglaser.com; h=Received:MIME-Version: Date:From:To:Subject:Message-ID:X-Sender:User-Agent:Content-Type:Content-Transfer-Encoding; b=u6/ut....RM6z;

I would like to install DKIM, which is the newer version of DomainKeys, and want to install DKIM keys in the same folders as the DomainKeys.

While on the subject, I also want to figure out how to update the various blank headers, such as MIME-Version: Date: From: To: ect. Since I receive lots of spam in my Yahoo inbox, they somehow figured out how to produce good headers and bypass the spam filters while all my test email is marked as spam by Yahoo, I believe there has to be a way to get mission critical messages to my customers.

Do I have to install DKIM for each domain's cpanel, or can I do it in my WHM for the main host domain?

    Hi,

You can enable domain keys through Cpanel >> Email >> Email Authentication >> Domain key And SPF record.(per account basis)

Yeap. It can be done automatically after you enabled the Domainkey feature in Email Authentication for single domain in cPanel and the domain key entry will be added in DNS zone automatically as TXT record.

    DomainKeys are different from DKIF.

Cpanel does not yet support DKIF. May in the future.

The DKIM support in EXIM, the MTA cPanel/WHM uses, is still deemed experimental by its developers. You can verify this at: http://wiki.exim.org/DKIM

Once DKIM support is no longer considered experimental and it is deemed to meet our quality standards, then, given the demand for this feature, it is likely it will become natively supported.

The instructions for enabling DKIM are in the aforementioned Exim wiki entry on DKIM. All we have done is already compile in the modules that are needed for it to function.
