Update: mod_ruid2 is now in EasyApache for those using cPanel&WHM version 11.31.3 or later. Sorry, but if you are on an earlier version of cPanel&WHM, you simply will not see the option to install mod_ruid2.

I was happy to see that mod_ruid2 is now available in EasyApache. However, I was disappointed by this sentence:
I'm curious:Generally, mod_ruid2 is not considered to be production-worthy.
- Why isn't it considered production-worthy? After all, cPanel is designed to be used on production servers...so why would something be included if it's not production-ready?
- When might it be considered production-worthy?
Thanks,
Mark
Hi,
Good to hear. I actually saw that verbiage in the general announcement about mod_ruid2:UPDATE: This verbiage is not present in EasyApche 3.8.3 .
So I can consider it production-ready now? :-)
I also see that it's incompatible with MemCache. Does this only apply to the MemCache module in EasyApache? I have installed memcached and PECL memcached separately. I know there is some confusion about various flavors of memcache.
Also, even though I have EasyApache 3.8.3, I do not see the mod_ruid2 option. Is that version of cPanel/WHM only in Edge? (I was using Release, then updated to Current.)
Thanks,
Mark
I have tested mod_ruid2 since it was released on EDGE. I did encounter some problems with mutex and I've managed to fix it by adding AcceptMutex posixsem to /usr/local/apache/conf/mod_ruid2.conf
If other people will encounter this kind of problem , i would recommend cPanel to patch the installation and add this value to mod_ruid2 config file.

Thanks InterServed. Are you running it with APC, eAccelerator, and/or memcached? If so, any issues related to those?
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks.
We're using the Unixy Varnish plugin and memcached under suPHP right now. Looking forward to a performance boost with mod_ruid2. :-)

Feel welcome to report this as a bug if you feel it is such: http://go.cPanel.net/bugs
Any idea when mod_ruid2 will be in EasyApache in Release, Current or Stable?
When those tiers reach 11.32, then mod_ruid2 will be available in EasyApache in each of them. There would not be a current estimate on when 11.32 reaches each tier, though.

EasyApache is always the latest version on all cPanel tiers, so the EasyApache version doesn't actually differ itself. There is detection code in EasyApache for the tier due to the substantial changes that are required for mod_ruid2 to function in it. Due to that fact, it detects if the cPanel version is 11.31 or higher. The EasyApache version itself, though, is the same for all the versions and tiers.

I manage to use the new features from easyapache, including mod_ruid2 by creating an empty file /var/cpanel/dev_sandbox
Unfortunately I had to update apache templates by myself (vhost.local) Beside that, there's nothing incompatible with current cpanel stable version.

That is incorrect. There is more than just the vhost template change in play. For example, fileprotect is incompatible with mod_ruid2 and is only available as part of the 11.31+ update. That's just one a few items that are incompatible with mod_ruid2 in 11.30 and earlier and therefore require the 11.31+ update to patch them. Utilizing d_t's instructions would be ill advised and result in putting your server in an unsanctioned and unsupported configuration. Please do not do that.
If you really must have mod_ruid2 immediately, you can adjust your server to the EDGE release tier of cPanel. However, 11.32 just hit EDGE yesterday afternoon. This would mark the start of 11.32+ making its way down through CURRENT, RELEASE, & STABLE. It's not far off now. Please wait instead of putting your server into an unsupported and broken state by forcing mod_ruid2 to compile.

What is fileprotect? I found this http://forums.cpanel.net/f5/what-fil...ea3-72701.html but doesn't contains too much info. open_basedir works fine with ruid.
What about switch to EDGE, install mod_raid2 then switch back to RELEASE?
PS. I also add nginxcp on top of that)
