Default [FEATURE REQUEST] please enhance 'Edit package' to be more flexible.

    WHM > Edit Packages

When I edit a package it would be great if I were offered the following options:

    1. Apply these changes to ALL hosting accounts associated with this package, OR
    2. Apply these changes ONLY to the hosting accounts (associated with this package) that I select [provide checkbox list of all relevant accounts], OR
    3. Do not apply these changes to any of the hosting accounts currently associated with this package. Only apply them to new accounts on this package, or when I update an existing account to on package.

    Here's hoping... :-)

package = a set of default options.

you can very well have accounts that are in a specific package that doesnt fit within those package guidelines.....

I take your point, but in the real world there are always exceptions to the rules when it comes to fine-tuning packages to the individual needs of different businesses.

Would I like all our hosting clients to confirm exactly to the packages we define? Absolutely! But given that exceptions are a reality, I'm hoping that my proposal/suggestion is constructive.

just to double check - can anyone confirm (or otherwise) to me that when I do edit a package, that those changes are immediately reflected on all hosting accounts associated with that package?

I need to double check this because I want to increase the quota on my 'basic' hosting package, and need to know whether or not the new quota value, AND ALL THE VALUES OF THE OTHER SETTINGS (eg. max email accounts) THAT I HAVEN'T CHANGED, will be immediately applied to all related accounts.

    Thanks.

This would be a nice addition, since editting packages never updates your current clients. I just did an pacakge upgrade and now have my staff updating pacakges of existing clients with upgrade/downgrade to make it match the new bigger packages. For 10 I wouldn't mind, but I have 5000+ to do this to and no solutions in the forums help.

I would love to have a package system as noted above.

You can always do search/replace in the files under /var/cpanel/users.

I did it that way before with no problems.

Using the latest edge build. This function already works.

If I edit a package using edit packages it auto updates all packages currently using that package. Hope this helps!

I actually need the "edit packages" function to ONLY edit the thing I've changed. the way it currently works is that all accounts using this package are moved back to defaults on all things. So if i want to increase the number of parked domains, all those accounts with extra mysql get changed down to the standard for the package. I find it easier to just edit the user db's via command line.

I would have to agree. It should *only* change the item you wanted to edit. It should not revert the whole package to the defaults. This is a must and cpanel should review it!

That would work great - But:

They have all fields listed from band to subs. But not the storage limit.

This is a great idea. I would love to see it implemented.

Following the threads about 1GB = 1024 as opposed to the 1GB=1000 I made that change to the package. The problem with that was that I have 6 clients who had increases in their Email accounts and were reduced to the package's size.
So I think it would be a desirable thing to have a specific feature and specific accounts modification process, so that it doesn't impact everyone.. OR at least ALERT!! about accounts that had changes from the original package and ask for What Action Do You Want To Take? or otherwise flag them for ease of handling later.
