I created a cpaddon for the roundcube and all is well except for the fact that when the DB is created the user is not added to the privileges to the DB thus I need to manually add the user to the DB for privileges.

The package installs and the config files are ready.

Not sure why the user is not getting added to the DB, it is creating the user however.

    Default RoundCube webmail installer

If you want to try a cpaddon installer for ROUNDCUBE I've created one.

Use this URL in the WHM Main >> cPAddon Scripts Installer/Updater
    http://www.virtualvideousa.com/cpaddons/mycpaddons.pl.

I also have a Joomla 1.5.1 you will see at the same time.

Does the spell check work? How do you get around cpanel php not being configured with SSL?

I have not used it, but it does look nice. Maybe someone could test it out and see if that's better then the default "ugly" skin for squirrelmail?

This is not a skin you can just drop in. This is the full program and is outdated for that matter. It's a shame.

In builds 23019+, RoundCube is provided along with Horde and Squirrelmail in our Webmail interface. This build is EDGE only at this time.

    Sounds Great Kenneth..

Just a question though.. what is the normal release schedule transitioning things from edge to other cpanel branches.

Cool. I'll wait till the Stable branch include it. I don't feel very comfortable using Roundcube since it is at version 0.1.1 which says it still needs a really long way to walk in order to work properly. Although, I like what I see at their website, and comments from people that have tested Roundcube will be welcomed too.

If Roundcube will be activable from the WHM the same way actually you can do with Horde or other services, I'll be glad to give it a try and promote its use as alternative to Horde for those customers who want a newer look and wish to test it.

Open Source projects tend to use weird version number schemes (OK, OK, all Software project use weird schemes). The RoundCube project considers 0.1 to be their 'stable' version.

All new features are developed in internal builds, then released for general public testing in EDGE. Usually within 10-14 days of EDGE, CURRENT is built with some or all of the features of EDGE. 10-14 days after CURRENT, RELEASE is rebuilt. STABLE follows 1-2 days after RELEASE.

The above are generalities. Sometimes things take longer, sometimes it happens quicker.

As weird as 11.18.3? ok, we'll give it a try when Stable upgrade of cPanel bring it to world.

The only complaints we have from customers regarding Horde is the cumbersome, long winded way of logging in. Roundcube looks nice & a bit more "modern" so will also try it out when it hits the Stable build.

yep, for firstimers the Horde is a bit annoying. Without mention that the default config is not always the better for a webmail, i.e. there's no Trash folders from the start and deleted mails are marked as deleted when you should see them moved to a Trash folder. The needing for a complete reconfig at start is annoying. I don't know if a default config for Horde may be presetted for new accounts.

Hence my remark about all Software projects

You can alter Horde's configuration to your liking, for example performing an expunge upon delete, by modifying the files in /usr/local/cpanel/base/horde/config and the Horde applications config directories. These settings will be preserved across updates by following the documentation in /usr/local/cpanel/src/3rdparty/gpl/README-horde

There is a fix for that in http://bugzilla.cpanel.net/show_bug.cgi?id=4666

Cool, but I don't find documentation to guide me thru the conf checking of this files. The file /usr/local/cpanel/src/3rdparty/gpl/README-horde don't add enough data to help me in this quest Is there any doc online that may help me? (I didn't find anything of value - http://www.horde.org/imp/docs/?f=README.html)

I realize, however, that doing such a patch may produce errors (I suppose, but really don't know!) if you need to select another defaulted webmail app (for the case you also allow use of Squirrelmail or Roundcube). May this be done without problems in that scenarios?

THe README-horde document explains how to preserve your configuration when cPanel updates Horde. As for configuring Horde, that's something that is poorly documented by Horde. You can find some info by scouring all the documentation on Horde's website and searching their mailing lists.

The patch in bugzilla is supposed to take you directly to the main Horde interface after clicking the Horde icon, thus bypassing the language selection screen. I haven't tested it with the newest version of Horde that we distribute so it likely needs some fine tuning.
