:: The patch in bugzilla is supposed to take you directly to the main Horde interface after clicking the Horde icon, thus bypassing the language selection screen. I haven't tested it with the newest version of Horde that we distribute so it likely needs some fine tuning. ::

This was the cumbersome part I meant earlier, 1st screen login, 2nd screen select language then 3rd screen into web mail interface.

Will wait for the mods to come through to the stable builds

    My Input:
MailBee, they have a developer edition that allows for royalty free distribution at only $500.00. I didn't read through the whole license but I think it might be suitable.

I agree Horde is a very boring interface. I like how MailBee looks.

MailBee is very nice, but free solutions would be likely the actual choice.

Well, I'm glad to see that finally Horde will implement a modern design. Hope to see it integrated soon in cPanel.

To mee it seems like cPanel is still using IMP 3, so perhaps they can first start to upgrade to IMP 4.3

Whoa, where do you see the actual installed version of Horde/IMP in cPanel?

You can see it in /var/cpanel/horde/version

WHM/cPanel uses Horde version 3.1.7 (released march 2008)

    The latest versions are

    3.3.4 (released may 2009)
    IMP 4.3.4 (released april 2009)

So for cPanel 11.25 is still using the old horde!

No Groupware as planned and no 4.3!

Please cpanel team.... please upgrade Horde to 4.3 or atleast 3.3.4!

I started this thread 02-13-2008 and roundcube is the only thing that we have gotten.

    FYI: Roundcube sucks

I have been thinking lately that it would be nice if cPanel developed an inhouse mail client that was modern, and cpanel specific. With some of the other panels out there like DA and IW offering the exact same things (yet newer versions) it might be a good idea to start offering something that they cannot.

When I think of all the money that I have spent on cPanel licenses and then start to realize it's really just a wrapper for a bunch of free stuff it boggles my mind.

    Default Mail

I agree that mail needs to be looked at. The feature that most needs to be added is the availablility of a whitelist for endusers that do not have cpanel access to add a sender and that mail deliver regardless of spam score. This is the biggest complaint I get. They don't want to use Boxtrapper, they just want to add to whitelist and mail deliver. Not by contacting admin and adding it in the cpanel for the whole domain.

That is part of the reason that I am thinking about a cPanel developed solution rather than XXrandomopensourcewebmailXX.

If cPanel spends a little bit of time on a custom webmail client they can integrate all kinds of functionality into it that would give a much more integrated feel to our end users.

    White Lists (as stated)
    Black Lists
    Outlook/Thunderbird Setup instructions
    Server Side shared Address Books
    Server Side shared Calendars
    Server Side shared Task Assignments
Proper update schedule and fast response to vulnerabilities
    Rich Features like spell checking
Branding (use the logo / header from cpanel?)

I am sure there are lots of other things that could be done as well.

Just look at the enchantment request in bugzilla. Some basic software upgrade request are a few months/years old, have lots of vots and yet cPanel ignores them!

cPanel doesn't even take the time to upgrade the basic free software that is used. So you can forget about a totally new webmail developed by cPanel.

Lets not burn them at the stake, they do a good job with cPanel but I think it's time to grow a little bit at this point.
