    Default accessing my site

Brand new to this, so I am sure this question has been asked before:

I created an account and uploaded all of my html files etc.. into my public_html directory. When I enter in www.mydomain.com in to a web browser it brings up the default Cpanel page, but when I enter in www.mydomain.com/~myhomedirectory it brings up my site. How do I get it to bring up my site by its domain without having to add the path to my home directory? Thanks.

There was a virtual host in the httpd.conf file for the IP of the server who's document directory was /usr/local/apache/htdocs and I commented out the virtual host and it started working, but I am not sure if that was the correct solution.

I would say 90% because your site is working but now you won't get a cPanel page while browsing your server IP i.e. http://ServerIp as you have commented the default path to apache/htdocs folder.
