Apache 2 - MaxClients

Hello,

Just upgraded to Apache 2.2.6, everything is hunky dory except my MaxClients!

Can someone tell me how to up the limit? I have tried MaxChild NUMBERHERE but it doesn't seem to accept it!

Silly question I know, but silly questions need to be asked sometimes!

I looked in httpd.conf but it seems not te be there...

You can change this using the MaxClients and ServerLimit directives in httpd.conf.

The default MaxClients setting is 356, and in order to raise this you need to also raise ServerLimit.

Something such as

ServerLimit 500
MaxClients 500

Be sure to have ServerLimit first as it will create conflicts and errors if reversed

I looked in /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf but I don't have these settings.

Why does the new easy apache have ServerLimit set to 256 hard? Changing it in httpd.conf will not do anything.

I'm having the same problem. WTF this juts killed a server getting 1,500 connections...... FIX PLEASE
