Default Can't see files with a web browser. 404 error.

This is an urgent problem and I'm hoping to get some feedback in the next few hours! I appreciate you admins and others looking this over. Thanks.

Alright, so I'm trying to install wordpress and I've unzipped all the files under the "public_html" folder. When I try to use the installer, or access any files (THROUGH MY WEB BROWSER) I get a 404 error. The files are clearly present, so I am lost. I've even copied and pasted the URLs given by cpanel's file manager and I get the same 404 error. Any ideas?

Are you able to view the "readme.html" file? Right now your link shows the directory structure, which is empty.

Thanks for the reply. I cannot view the Readme.html - all I get is the following 404 error.

The hosting provider has been contacted, so hopefully they can find the solution.

Have you been able to figure this out yet?

While working on a website, uploading images, I suddently get a 404 error, so I look in the error logs, nothing. I install some other scripts, all give me 404 error

Apache's erorr log doesn't mention anything about.

    Anyone know why?

    Hello,

I'm having the same problem after I uploaded my HTML files successfully under the "public_html" folder but when I try to view the files using the link on the left pane I was getting the message "The page cannot be found: HTTP 404 - File not found".

I was able to view my existing HTML files prior to the cPanel system upgrade.
My last successful upload/view was back in early February 2007.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    thanks,
    jj
