Default Changed system files - No info in "New" or "Chaneg Log"

System file integrity checking failed last night with thi sinfo:

    /usr/bin/rpm2cpio: FAILED
    /usr/bin/rpmbuild: FAILED
    /usr/bin/rpmdb: FAILED
    /usr/bin/rpmquery: FAILED
    /usr/bin/rpmsign: FAILED
    /usr/bin/rpmverify: FAILED
    /bin/rpm: FAILED

I checked the WHM for news and the changelog for the "release" version since that is what I am on and see nothing. Any idea (besides hackers) what might have happened. I have two servers and both show the exact same thing.

    Default rpm package was updated

On CentOS 5.5, the rpm RPM package was updated recently. If yum was run manually, without being invoked by cPanel's update process, then it would explain why the files have changed without any mention in cPanel's update logs.

All of the files you mentioned are provided by the rpm package. You can check its integrity by running the rpm command with the -V switch:

    Code:
    # rpm -V rpm
    #
If there is no output, then all files match those provided by the RPM package.

The most likely explanation for what you are seeing is that the package was updated by yum without yum being started by cPanel. This is an operating system-level issue, and there would be no log of it in any of cPanel's logs unless the yum update that updated that particular package was started by a upcp (cPanel update) run.
