    Default cPAddon Scripts vs. Fantastico

I'm new to cpanel, and i'm not sure what the difference between cPAddon Scripts and fantastico is? How should cPAddon Scripts be used?

cPAddons is an integral part of the cPanel product. Fantastico is a third-party addon from www.netenberg.com that provides similar functionality to cPAddons. Both offer the ability to install third-party application scripts into user accounts.

Thanks! I see some scripts are in both places - is one better to use than the other? And if I want to install my own, it'll go into the add ons, right?

cPAddons is designed with system administrators in mind. It allows sysAdmins to moderate requests for installations, force upgrades etc.

If you install a cPAddon via the "Site Software" section of the cPanel interface, then it will appear on your website.

If you unzip a cPAddon manually (e.g. WordPress), cPAddons will not manage that script.

Which scripts are available with CPAddons, or is that completely open? Which is better from an end-user standpoint?

The scripts you see in the Site Software section are available via cPAddons. Third parties are welcome to create auto-installers for their scripts using our cPAddons framework. If they need assistance in doing so, please let us know.

I see some of the same things in Fantastico and in the add ons. I'm assuming it's better to disable in Fantastico and enable in add ons?

I think that Fantastico still can't handle register_global off so better to disable Fantastico and enable cPAddon. Am I right ?
