Default cPanel broken in all browsers Win XP

    Hi,
My cPanel is broken when accessed on my Windows XP from all browsers. I can access cPanel perfectly from my linux boxes on the same network. My cPanel/Firefox/Linux work just fine, and I think this confirms the username/pwd are correct and the cPanel on the hosting server is OK. Conclusion, the problem is local to the PC. Here is what happens on the XP box: I open my url to cpanel and input the username/pwd. The browser immediately returns with user/pwd popup. Since the pwd is stored in the browser, all I have to do is hit <enter> again. This process repeats. It appears as if the pwd is incorrect, but actually if I continue to hit the <enter> key several hundred times, the cpanel page is very slowly loaded one icon/component at a time. Since all browsers are affected, I assume the problem is common to all browsers or to the OS on the box XP only. I've tried browser/java re-installs/upgrades to no avail. Any ideas what is broken/missing on the windows box? Is it possible something (dll or other file) was removed during an uninstall, or java upgrade is causing the problem? I have not seen this issue on any other browser app/website, just cPanel. I've searched this forum and MS technet without success.

Sounds like you either got cookies turned off or some security application or popup blocker that is interfering with cookies.

Also the "icons comes up one at a time" tells me that you may additionally have some problems with your network adapter or specific settings.

Anyway though, this is not an operating system issue as Cpanel works 100% perfectly with Windows XP but your system may be misconfigured.

Thanks Spiral. I should point out that cPanel previously worked on this XP-PC. Then something happened that affected it in the same manner on all browsers (IE6,7,8 and FF3.6). The hosting service help desk suggested I clear the network IP cache, but that did not fix. So far, I've not seen this same behavior with any other web app. I checked and verified cookies and pop-ups were enabled. Strange! I'm trying to avoid an OS reinstall if possible. I'll do a full wipe on history/cache/cookies and see what happens. Not hopeful since all browsers are affected, and what are the odds of that happening due to cache. Sure appreciate any further suggestions esp. networking as I'm not very strong on that. Cheers!

    A few items ....

    1. Disable, remove, and reinstall all security applications, popup blockers,
and firewall applications you might have on your system and this
would include the internal windows firewall built into windows if
    you are currently using that.

    2. Find a program called "ccleaner" and run that and that will do a good
job of clearing your cache and your cookings.

    3. Get and apply all updates for Windows from "Windows Update"

    4. Try running "ipconfig /flushdns" in your command prompt

    5. Run "SpyBot" or other spyware scanner and do a full scan and the
same goes with a good virus scanner

    6. If things still are not working for you at this point then try re-installing
    your web browsers themselves.

    7. Check any network wires you have or sources of nearby radio
interference if using a wireless connection.

At this point, you should hopefully have things sorted out ---

If not, then maybe an OS reload might not be such a bad idea.
