Default Cpanel Install stop at "Building Apache" on CentOS

    Hi All,

I'm new to this forum. nice to meet you all!

I've installed CentOS 3.4 and follow the partition assignment as instructed. In the CentOS installation I tick no package of web servers, etc, and hope Cpanel will install for me.

After I download the install.sh and run the install.sh, it seems starting download some packages and update the servers.

However, when it comes to Building Apache... , I've waited for around 1-2 hours and it still stuck there. I have no clue why it happen like that.

I then login into another terminal and check using "ps -aux" and the following process is running

    root 15526 0.0 0.2 6428 2820 pts/0 S 14:47 0:00 cPanel slave install - perl modules
    root 15527 0.0 0.1 2524 1332 pts/0 S 14:47 0:00 /usr/bin/expect -- ./expectcpan
    root 15528 0.0 0.6 8332 6960 pts/1 S 14:47 0:00 /usr/bin/perl /scripts/realperlinstaller CPAN
    root 15546 0.0 0.0 2120 920 pts/0 S 14:47 0:00 /bin/sh ./checkrpms
    root 15553 0.2 7.6 82692 77896 pts/1 S 14:47 0:11 /usr/bin/python /usr/bin/yum -y install ncftp lynx
    root 15604 0.0 0.1 2924 1460 pts/0 S 14:47 0:00 /usr/bin/perl /scripts/safeyum -y install wget
    root 15608 0.0 1.0 15780 10660 pts/0 S 14:47 0:00 /usr/bin/python /usr/bin/yum -y install wget
    root 16052 0.2 0.2 6876 2140 ? S 16:17 0:00 sshd: root@pts/2
    root 16054 2.0 0.1 4256 1324 pts/2 S 16:17 0:00 -bash
    root 16102 0.0 0.0 2728 772 pts/2 R 16:17 0:00 ps -aux

Do anyone has any clue so that I could finish the Cpanel installation. Thanks a lot!

If you can start the install over again, then you should first:

    1. Make sure that you install the CentOS GPG key first:
    http://www.centos.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=29

    2. Install gcc first (if it isn't already):
    yum install gcc

You should then have a smoother ride.

    Hi Jon,

Thanks a lot! After I import the PGP key and it's now working. You're very helpful as other member said too! Thanks a lot!
