Cpanel permissions
I'm try to extract .zip and .tar files in cpanel and they don't have the correct petmissions. I've tried uploading them with through FTP but I still don't have the correct permissions.
I don't want to change all of the files to 777 every time. I'm running a private vps and I own the account.... Any help is welcome |

What permissions are you trying to get for it? Chmod 777 is generally a bad idea to run so ideally you can find another solution, with the information provided though I have no idea what is going wrong.

cpanel permissions
sorry for the lack of info.
I have a private VPS running cpanel. Im trying to install programs such as joomla onto the cpanel accounts that I have created through WHM. The accounts own the rights to their own accounts but still there are permission issues. I have tried Softaculous and other installation programs but still the same issue. |

Is the ownership of the directories correct?
Are you putting it into directories that apache created? If you do not run suphp and apache makes a directory you may run into some permission problems. What is the ownership/permissions of the dir you are having trouble in? It sounds like that is the issue or at least a good starting block.

cpanel permissions issue
suPHP is already installed and configured. I have asigned each account to own the rights to their cpanel but still there is an issue.
I am using mainly Joomla so I am trying to install it onto cpanel but I have tried other programs and there still seems to be an issue |

If you have suPHP enabled then I do not think you will require to set 777 permissions to your directories. You have mentioned that you are trying to set permissions from FTP, have you tried to set permissions from cPanel -> File Manager?

Correct, apache will give an internal server error if you try accessing a 777 directory - it won't let you with suphp.

Make sure your scripts do not have global write permissions (not just checking for 777).
