cPanel/WHM Update Preferences confusion

cPanel default installation is from the stable tree,

it installed apache 1.3, php 4 and mysql 4.

however i upgraded apache, php, mysql etc. i changed to release tree, and i updated to what i want:

Apache 2.2, php5 as cgi+suphp + mysql 5 + mysqli

After that i switched cpanel update to All MANUAL except Security Package Updates.

I'm just wondering this is big question to me:

Will cPanel/WHM update override my Apache, php and mysql versions and configuration files?

To be more clearify, if i switch to stable tree and let it auto update, what will happen?

And what if i switch it to Manual updated, where do i start manual update of cPanel only?

If you have used WHM/Cpanel scripts to update your applications then Cpanel update will not change the changes that you have made..........................

Cpanel will change the manual configurations if you had done something like that..........................

I'm worry about these thing before i make my server as production server.

cPanel is really confusion abit, i can't find a definite answer from this forum for at least a couple of things.

cPanel/WHM will never automatically upgrade Apache or PHP.

MySQL may be upgraded for patches if you have it set to automatic, but only within that version. For example, MySQL 4.1.x would get upgraded to another MySQL 4.1 version, not MySQL 5.0. If there was a security patch for one of these services, with security package updates enabled, that would become upgraded.

If things were only set for manual, to upgrade cPanel (and cPanel components such as EasyApache) only, just go to WHM -> cPanel -> Upgrade to Latest Version.

If you set yourself to the STABLE tree and let it auto-update, cPanel will automatically update only when a new STABLE build is out. If you set the other services to auto update, they would auto-update to the latest version known to be supported by the STABLE build.
