domain + email forwarding problem - do I have it set up right?
Hi!
Client has two domains: companyinc.com and company.com. Companyinc.com is their old domain and the other is new. companyinc.com is now parked and forwarded to company.com company.com is the main domain and email domain for the client. Client didn't want to stop mail going to companyinc.com and hasn't sent out a mass email teling contacts to use the new domain for email. companyinc.com is set up to forward to company.com and email forwarding is also set up. So, if someone sends mail to bob@companyinc.com, it forwards to bob@company.com. If mail is sent to a bad address at companyinc.com, it still forwards to the default address at company.com even though I have it set to fail. Do I need to set company.com so that bad addresses are set to fail in order for that to work for companyinc.com? Or is that going to fail me in the email forwarding for good addresses, too, from companyinc.com to the good domain? Client is getting tons and tons of spam at the companyinc.com addresses and I wanted to set up that domain to reject any mail that isn't addresses to a real address. Oh God, I hope this makes sense and that someone can help me. thanks, Tracey |
