    Default Enabling Anonymous FTP access

I do not have an FTP Manager icon to change the FTP settings for my website. I have viewed the FAQ and Help documentation which says to click on this icon in order to change the setting. Where should the icon be and how can I get access to it if it is not there.

Can you please link me to the documentation you are referring to? This documentation would be severely outdated. The contents of the former "FTP Manager" are now found in the "Files" grouping of icons in your cPanel interface.

To add, remove, modify or auto-configure a FTP Account, simply click on the "FTP Accounts" icon in the "Files" section of your cPanel interface.

Exclamation there is no anonymous ftp setting

    the documentation:

    http://www.cpanel.net/support/docs/1...s_anonftp.html

does not appear to correspond with anything i have available on my cpanel.

additionally, in the 'interface help popup' you say:
    Accounts to note
Anonymous accounts are used for Anonymous FTP access and cannot be deleted. Logaccess accounts are used to download your site's log files and also cannot be deleted. Your main FTP account has access to all files within your domain and also cannot be deleted.

    What is Anonymous FTP?
Anonymous FTP allows anyone to access a specified directory without a username or password. This means that anyone can access the files in your anonymous directory. Your anonymous directory is public_ftp/.
but again nowhere do you explain HOW to set up / configure this anonymous access.

i'm using cpanel x3. i'm set to automatically update to the latest stable release.

help in locating the anonymous ftp account settings much appreciated

Default additional information - found the problem

okay, as it turns out, i am using pureftp... which in WHM has a GLOBAL setting to either allow or disallow anonymous ftp settings.

once you enable anonymous ftp access globally you get an 'anonymous ftp' manager icon in cpanel

it may be helpful to have the anonymous ftp icon always be available, but say that globally, anonymous ftp has been disabled and that the cpanel user should contact the webhost. rather than just disappearing the icon altogether.

    hope that helps someone.
