Angry Error on counter "Counter datafile "/var/cpanel/Counters/userid.dat" must be created

    Hi all,

For some reason with the upgrade my visitor counter is getting this message:

Counter datafile "/var/cpanel/Counters/userid.dat" must be created in cPanel first!

I checked the documentation but no avail. I search the forum and I didn't find any answer.

If anybody can help or give me some direction is greatly appreciated.

    thanks,
    jj

You need to create this file again, just put the visitor counter.

    pico -w /var/cpanel/Counters/userid.dat

    Hi Alex,

When you said "You need to create this file again, just put the visitor counter."

You mean to put the visitor counter html command on my index.html ?

    thanks,
    jj

no, You need to recreate the DAT file (the userid.dat) in cpanel directory.

    Default Counter Issue

    Hi All,

Steps for solving this issue "Could not write to counter file: /var/cpanel/Counters.countername.dat" while we set a counter for a domain

    Answer
    ------------

    Login to your server
    cd /hvar/cpanel/Counters
    chown username.username to countername.dat
    save and quit

Refresh your browser and clear their caches.......

Hope this will solve the issue.

    Thanks,
