I have setup my account with WHM.
I went to THAT accounts CPANEL using THAT accounts username / password.
The error message above is what I got in return...

Can someone tell me what MIGHT be wrong?

As for your problem, it will problaby be solved if you force update cpanel:
/scripts/upcp --force
