Default file owner set to nobody

I am having a huge problem with a Joomla installation and my host company is fed up of helping me.

Basically I install modules into Joomla but am then unable to alter these files or add to them. All I get is critical file error. My host says it is because Joomla sets the file owner is nobody. He idd suggest using file manager within cPanel but I still get cirtical errors when tryign to alter permissions.

    Any ideas welcomed.

Your host is wrong. using the cPanel ftp makes no difference as you cannot change ownership from apache/nobody to yourself without shell access.

There is a new version of JoomExplorer that claims to resolve this, but not tried it yet, or how it could be any different issue to the cPanel ftp - unless it allows you to install Joomla modules and components?
